PUPS AT MARKET
Hey y’all! As we get more into the swing of the season, our attendance numbers are soaring and It makes sense! Our vendors are producing and selling more with some spreading out to occupy two tents! And we added several new awesome vendors this year. In a nutshell, we are busting at the seams! It’s the kind of problem we love to have, thanks to talented producers and YOU! We are thrilled that so many folks, close to 4,000 each weekend, are choosing to spend part of Saturday morning at Cobblestone.
With the increase of vendors, customers and visitors, come different challenges in preserving the comfortable market experience for all. One of those challenges is the safety and wellness of our four legged market visitors. We love our ‘customer’ mix and would like to share a couple of observations and ask your help in maintaining the market as a safe and delightful place to shop, meet friends, relax with a coffee or chai. Each week we see happy dogs walking with owners through the market well as pups who are anxious and distracted while their owners navigate the market. The anxious dogs are easy to spot as they weave back and forth in the crowds, trying to create safe space using their natural tools such as a low growl or include a growl, a high pitched repetitive bark or a quick turn of the head.
We know that these pups are instinctually reacting to a crowded situation and mean no harm. There are SO many smells, noises, children and legs to process at a dog’s eye level that things can get confusing!
For the continued ease of navigating market (except for the early morning frenzy to get seasonal items like berries, corn, ramps) we ask all our market going pet owners to please make sure that your pup is always under your control, on a short leash, and in general, happy and relaxed at market.
One other request is to please ‘water’ your pet before coming into the market space. No marking is allowed at the market even though the fire hydrant looks like the classic spot. Our vendors work very hard to bring delicious, fresh produce which they painstakingly grow without spraying of chemicals. Let’s all help make sure they remain “no spray” after they come to market.
MANY THANKS! Happy dogs, happy owners, happy market for ALL!
The grilling is still going and we are loving the charred veggies!
Grab your squash, peppers, beets, zucchini, greens, or whatever you may fancy and share these colorful local goods with your family and friends.
The Real Deal
Grab the bacon, grab the cheese, grab the tomato, grab the lettuce, grab the dogs and ground beef – ya know? the good stuff!
The bigger the burger bar the better,
AND the better for entertaining! Enjoy the last of these summer nights with friends and family and the yummiest food around.
